The Hogstad Brothers Push Boundaries with ‘Worth It’

Following up their infectious floor-filler Spinning Around, The Hogstad Brothers return with Worth It—a vibrant, genre-blurring single that reinforces their reputation as boundary-pushing sonic architects. With their long-awaited debut album Creatures in the Dirt on the horizon, the duo continues to carve out their own lane, blending contemporary R&B, trip-hop nostalgia, and psychedelic electronica into an experimental yet undeniably catchy soundscape.

From the outset, Worth It captivates with vocoder-laced spoken word passages and left-field synthesis, creating a surreal yet groove-driven atmosphere. The duo’s signature blend of electronica and pop sensibilities shines through, balancing intricate sound design with an irresistible, bass-heavy pulse. Playful yet introspective, the track’s tongue-in-cheek lyricism explores love in all its imperfect glory. “‘Worth It’ is a kitschy, trippy, funny love song about a partner who ain’t perfect… but is dope a.f. anyways,” the band explains. “It’s a love song that does not need love goggles.”

Adding to the track’s immersive energy, Worth It arrives with a one-of-a-kind visual—crafted using a hacked Xbox Kinect camera and a custom 3D visual generation program developed with a friend. This innovative approach extends to the duo’s live performances, where they fuse hypnotic dance beats with interactive psychedelic projections, transforming their sets into full-sensory experiences.

Originally from Palmdale, California, The Hogstad Brothers have been experimenting with sound and visuals since moving to New York in 2008. Their eclectic influences and DIY ethos led to early acclaim, with Earmilk praising their work in 2018 under the Flyer Learning moniker. Since officially debuting in 2021, they’ve continued to evolve, blending their deep-rooted love for electronic music with a fearless, genre-defying vision.

With Worth It, The Hogstad Brothers offer a compelling teaser for what’s to come on Creatures in the Dirt. If this single is any indication, their upcoming album is set to be an electrifying, unconventional ride through the outer edges of modern music.
