The Guilteens Emerge in Full Force with Debut EP “Heavy Letters”

Irish alternative outfit The Guilteens have unveiled their hotly anticipated debut EP Heavy Letters, released via LVP Records—a striking four-track collection that cements the band as one of the most exciting and uncompromising new acts in the Irish rock landscape.

Recorded by Christian Best (Mick Flannery, Susan O’Neill, The Bonk), mixed by John ‘Spud’ Murphy (Black Midi, Lankum), and mastered by Jamie Hyland (Gilla Band, M(h)aol), Heavy Letters captures the group’s signature blend of psychedelic textures, post-punk edge, and dark alternative rock atmospherics.

From the opening notes of Born Evil, a track that floats between ethereal space and emotional gravity, to the fuzz-drenched heft of Monolith and the haunting piano-driven drama of Savour, the EP showcases a band confidently expanding its sonic territory. Each song feels cinematic in scope, filled with moody tension, melodic hooks, and a sense of fearless experimentation.

Formed around a shared fascination with dark melodies and jagged rhythms, The Guilteens channel their influences into a sound that feels both nostalgic and immediate. Their music evokes the grit of garage rock, the looseness of psychedelia, and the shadowy allure of French New Wave cinema—a palette that gives Heavy Letters its uniquely vivid atmosphere.

Lyrically and sonically, the EP reveals a band unafraid to explore the edges of emotion and noise. The Guilteens’ ability to craft songs that are both visceral and melodic makes Heavy Letters a powerful first statement—one that cuts deep but lingers long after the final note fades.

On the release, the band share, “In this band, we’re all into artists that have a variety in their sound. So this EP is very much down that line of mixing it up and keeping it interesting and showing a few of the different sides to our music”.
