Emerging duo Swimming Pool make their debut with Calling, an intimate and atmospheric track that offers the first glimpse into their upcoming EP Line Cuts, set for release via Fog & Co..
Formed by multi-instrumentalist Klyl Shifroni and producer-vocalist Seraina Fässler, the project began as a series of experimental back-to-back DJ sets in abandoned garages in The Hague before evolving into a collaborative songwriting partnership. Their sound blends raw emotion with experimental electronics, creating music that feels both fragile and immersive.
“Calling” unfolds as a delicate late-night ballad built around bowed bass textures, sparse electronic elements, and layered vocal harmonies. Shifroni’s deep bass lines provide a grounded foundation while Fässler’s airy, processed vocals float across the track like echoes in an empty room. The result is a soundscape that feels suspended between melancholy and quiet optimism.
The duo’s creative identity is rooted in contrast and atmosphere. Their name, Swimming Pool, was inspired by a photographic collection of hurricane-damaged backyard pools—an image that reflects their fascination with finding beauty in destruction and emotion in overlooked moments.
Musically, the duo draw inspiration from boundary-pushing artists such as Mica Levi, The Düsseldorf Düsterboys, and Dean Blunt. Yet their own sound feels distinctly personal, combining lo-fi intimacy with experimental pop and post-rock minimalism.
Recorded at Maillères Studio in France, “Calling” was produced by the duo themselves, mixed by Ben Avgay and mastered by Enyang Urbiks.
As the first introduction to their upcoming EP Line Cuts, “Calling” captures the emotional essence of Swimming Pool’s artistry—music that doesn’t demand attention but quietly settles in, revealing its depth with every listen.
