Netflix has announced the release date and title of its upcoming docuseries on Sean “Diddy” Combs. Sean Combs: The Reckoning will debut on Tuesday, December 2, delivering a four-part, hour-per-episode examination of the music mogul’s rise, downfall, and the controversies that continue to surround him.
Executive-produced by 50 Cent and directed by Alexandria Stapleton, the docuseries has been in development for some time. According to Netflix, the project will include newly recorded interviews with “those formerly in his orbit,” though the streaming platform has not revealed specific participants.
Speaking about the series, 50 Cent expressed gratitude to those who contributed their accounts: “I’m grateful to everyone who came forward and trusted us with their stories, and proud to have Alexandria Stapleton as the director on the project to bring this important story to the screen.”
Stapleton underscored the broader themes explored in the series, noting that it goes beyond the allegations themselves. “This isn’t just about the story of Sean Combs or the story of Cassie, or the story of any of the victims, or the allegations against him, or the trial,” she said. “Ultimately, this story is a mirror [reflecting us] as the public, and what we are saying when we put our celebrities on such a high pedestal. I hope [this documentary] is a wake-up call for how we idolize people, and to understand that everybody is a human being.”
The docuseries arrives as Diddy serves a prison sentence of more than four years for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He also faces multiple civil lawsuits and a newly launched investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department into additional sexual battery allegations.
Sean Combs: The Reckoning will stream exclusively on Netflix starting December 2
