Pamela Hopkins Embraces Her Identity in Fiery New Single “Me Being Me”

Award-winning country powerhouse Pamela Hopkins is back with “Me Being Me,” a full-throttle declaration of self-acceptance. The single, pulled from her Arkansas Country Music Awards-nominated and International Singer-Songwriters Association-nominated album, Lord Knows I Ain’t No Saint, embodies Hopkins’s signature blend of fiery honesty, southern sass, and emotional grit.

Written by hitmakers Vickie McGehee, D. Vincent Williams, and Jim Femino, “Me Being Me” pulls no punches. With driving instrumentals and unapologetic lyrics, Hopkins embraces every facet of her identity: wild, free-spirited, and unwilling to apologize for it. The chorus serves as a fierce rejection of societal expectations, delivering a clear message: “If you don’t like what you see / I don’t know what you want me to tell you, darlin’ / That’s just me / Me being me.”

Beyond its attitude, the track carries deep personal significance for Hopkins. The song was pitched to her by the late Jim Femino, a mentor whose influence was pivotal in her songwriting journey. Hopkins connected with the song immediately, recognizing her own story within its lyrics.

Though initially recorded for her debut album, Hopkins waited until now to share “Me Being Me,” feeling confident that her voice finally did the song justice. The track’s title also inspired the title of her latest album.

“This one always hit home for me, and the title of my latest album actually comes from a line in this song,” she explains. “Jim passed away a few years ago, and I never got to co-write with him like we planned. But I’m honored to carry a piece of him in this release.”

“Me Being Me” is more than just a song; it’s a powerful statement of self-ownership and a tribute to a meaningful artistic connection.
