Luan Luan Returns with Cathartic New Single “Nonsense”

Spanish-born, Brighton-based artist Luan Luan breaks their four-year silence with “Nonsense”, a deceptively upbeat anthem about toxic relationships and emotional awakening. Serving as the lead single from their upcoming debut EP (due late 2025), the track transforms personal pain into empowering indie-rock energy, marking a bold evolution in Luan’s sound.

Originally written by Luan between leaving her hometown of Madrid and moving to Brighton at 18, “Nonsense” finally finds its full-band form in this 2024 recording. Luan’s raw, poetic lyrics (“It was a winter evening when I saw your face / Changing through all the seasons, I couldn’t pretend”) clash against bright, bouncing instrumentation, creating a jarring yet cathartic contrast. The track introduces Luan’s saxophone playing for the first time, weaving through jagged guitar lines during a climactic instrumental break that mirrors the song’s themes of realization and release.

Produced by Paul Winstanley, the single channels Luan’s eclectic upbringing—raised on everything from flamenco to funk—into a sound that’s both intimate and anthemic. What begins as a youthful ode to obsessive love becomes a scathing indictment of emotional violence, culminating in the bridge’s weary clarity: “They’re fading away all these feelings, don’t you see it?”

‘Nonsense’ is a riotous indie-rock reckoning, turning heartbreak into a horn-laced anthem of awakening.
