Komok Blurs Every Boundary With “Quasi-Human[e]”

If you are craving something a little left of centre for your late-night listening sessions, Komok has just opened the portal.

“Quasi-Human[e]” is the first single from his upcoming album Protopia, and it immediately sets the tone for a project that is more about building worlds than chasing chart formulas. Clocking in at a cool 115 BPM, this instrumental cut sits comfortably between acid house, big beat, IDM, and underground dance. It moves with intention, never rushing, never begging for a predictable drop. Instead, it locks you into a steady, hypnotic groove.

Rolling basslines carry the track forward while gritty drums punch through the haze. Warped analogue synths swirl overhead, bending and twisting like signals from a distant galaxy. The atmosphere feels dark and futuristic, clearly inspired by space travel and strange, otherworldly environments. This is not peak-time festival energy. It is after hours, lights low, mind wandering territory.

Komok is the electronic project of London-based Italian composer Alessandro Inglima, marking his first full commitment to this sonic landscape. Experimentation sits at the heart of it. There is a fearless approach to texture and rhythm that makes “Quasi-Human[e]” feel alive and unpredictable without ever losing its groove.

You can hear flashes of early Daft Punk in the raw funk of the bass, and a nod to the boundary-pushing mindset of Aphex Twin in the track’s warped edges. There are also subtle hints of vaporwave nostalgia and vintage video game tones woven into the mix. The result is a sound that feels both retro and futuristic, analogue yet digital, grounded yet cosmic.

Alessandro’s background explains a lot. Starting as a bass player, he gradually moved into experimenting with sound effects and synthesizers. His career has long balanced music and film, composing electronic soundtracks for short films, documentaries, theatre, and live performances. That cinematic instinct is clear here. “Quasi-Human[e]” does not just play like a song. It feels like a scene unfolding.

Adding to that narrative is a short visual microfilm released alongside the track, enhancing its sense of story. This audiovisual approach continues with Protopia, a 12-track instrumental album set for release in 2026. The album is designed as a journey through imagined futures and speculative worlds, with each track acting like a new location to explore. Analogue synths, fractured rhythms, and digital artefacts blur the line between memory and possibility, reality and fiction.

With “Quasi-Human[e],” Komok makes a confident entrance into the electronic space. It is underground in spirit, immersive in mood, and driven by groove rather than gimmick. If this is the first glimpse of Protopia, we are in for a transportive ride through uncharted sonic territory.

‘Quasi-Human[e]’ is a hypnotic, groove driven descent into futuristic sound design that feels both nostalgically analogue and thrillingly unknown
