El Tee Captures Love Lost in Poignant New Track ‘I Still Sing About You’

Naarm-based indie artist El Tee unveils her most emotionally raw single to date, “I Still Sing About You,” the latest offering from her forthcoming EP Kind Safe Cool. With poignant lyricism and a sweeping sonic arrangement, the track captures the lingering ache of love lost—and the complex truth that follows.

A staple of Australia’s independent music scene since 2018, El Tee has built a devoted following through her honest, vulnerable songwriting and an uncanny ability to turn pain into poetry. Her critically acclaimed 2020 debut Everything Is Fine topped community radio charts and earned her a Music Victoria Awards nomination for Best Rock Act in 2021. With Triple J support and praise from the likes of NME and Rolling Stone Australia, El Tee has cemented her place as one of the country’s most affecting voices in alt-folk and indie rock.

“I Still Sing About You” is a standout moment on Kind Safe Cool, a body of work that explores identity, resilience, and the often painful process of disentangling self-worth from past relationships. El Tee shares, “This is probably my favorite song on the EP, and also the song that took me the longest to write. This song looks back on a relationship after it’s over, reflecting on both the regrets and the things I loved. Those feelings can be conflicting, but sometimes they’re one and the same.”

El Tee’s songwriting radiates nuance, balancing anger, nostalgia, and self-awareness with subtle grace. Her voice, once described as soothing, now trembles with anguish and clarity, showing how time and heartbreak transform even the gentlest parts of ourselves. The EP title Kind Safe Cool is lifted from a lyric in “I Still Sing About You”: “I hate it how you made me feel kind and safe and cool”—a nod to the way relationships can falsely project identity back to us. El Tee explains, “Experiences are a mirror to who we are. I write a lot of personal narrative and emotionally charged experiences and perspectives, “Kind Safe Cool” is about realizing that the relationship didn’t give me those qualities, it only mirrored them back to me for a while.”

El Tee’s ‘I Still Sing About You’ is an emotionally raw exploration of love lost, capturing the bittersweet complexity of reflecting on a past relationship.   This standout single is a testament to her evolution as an artist, revealing the intricate dance between nostalgia and self-awareness.
