Following on from the release of teaser single ‘Health’ earlier in June, Irish post-punk outfit BODIES are back with their long-awaited new album ‘Ores’ as they look to make a name for themselves. Bringing their distinctive energy, grit, and dynamic, the outfit looks set to put their stamp on 2025.
Charging through the airwaves with driven basslines and foreboding, modulating melodies, BODIES look to unleash their magnetic fury on 2025 with their latest album ‘Ores’. Consisting of eleven tracks, the album emerges as cathartic as it is propulsive. Coupling together the sheer intensity of post-punk with the colourful vibrance of indie rock, the album offers a textured, detailed sonic thump with heart-dictated poetry and lyricisms to guide it on its course.
Rather than offering solutions, ‘Ores’ confronts these parallel breakdowns with unflinching honesty, creating space for listeners to sit with complexity and find their own meaning within the chaos. With tracks offering an exploration into homelessness, governmental incompetence, and the intensive struggles of society, the album promises to be a resonant, hard-hitting offering.
In BODIES’ own words, “Ores” is a raw examination of collapse and endurance, born from the intersection of personal crisis and societal decay. Written during a period when frontman David Anthony’s health deteriorated alongside his witnessing of Dublin and Ireland’s mounting social failures, the album serves as both an indictment and a testament to human resilience. Through an angst-ridden experimental post-punk soundscape, the record splits its focus between two devastating realities: the institutional failures crushing Ireland’s most vulnerable, and the intimate struggle of living with chronic illness.

Since making their first release in 2016, BODIES is a project that has moved from strength to strength whilst navigating from period to period. Whilst incarnating as the brainchild of frontman David Anthony, the group released their debut album in 2018 to wide critical acclaim and radio play before a cycling accident put a stop to their heady creative momentum. The project on hold, with Anthony releasing music under his own moniker during the pandemic, the members of the live band soon rekindled and reformed with a streamlined identity. Gracing the stages of top Irish festivals Electric Picnic and Castlepalooza, whilst even appearing as the band behind main character Darren in Apple TV’s Bad Sisters, the band have since turned countless heads as they look to cement themselves as a defiant creative force.
Ores is a gripping, unflinching triumph—BODIES channel post-punk fury into a cathartic soundtrack of collapse, resilience, and raw societal critique.
