For Greek-born producer Alimba, music has never been just a hobby. It has been a lifelong exploration of sound, imagination, and personal transformation. Born Spiros (Spyridon) Aliprantis on February 16, 1987, the artist now known as Alimba grew up surrounded by music, eventually carving out a unique creative path that bridges ambient atmospheres, experimental electronics, and forward-looking trance.
Alimba’s story begins long before digital audio workstations and synthesizers entered his life. As a child in Greece, he spent hours recording radio shows onto cassette tapes. Music was constantly playing around him, partly thanks to his father, who worked at a radio station. Many evenings were spent there with his younger brother, surrounded by shelves filled with CDs and endless sonic inspiration. Those early experiences planted a seed that would eventually grow into a creative obsession.
Around 2005, Alimba took his first real steps into music production when he discovered the software eJay. Paired with sample libraries and plenty of curiosity, he began making his earliest tracks alongside his brother. While most of those experiments remain unreleased, they marked the beginning of a journey that would shape his artistic identity.
Seeking more creative control, he soon transitioned to FL Studio, which opened the door to deeper production possibilities. During those years, he created countless unreleased pieces while exploring different styles and techniques. Over time, he naturally gravitated toward experimental and ambient music, drawn to its atmospheric depth and emotional openness.
By 2009, his dedication started to pay off. Some of his music began appearing on radio shows, while others found their way onto compilation albums, giving him his first taste of recognition. In 2010, Alimba signed a deal with Divaani Records, releasing his debut EP Beyond Milky Way. The project featured two original experimental techno tracks alongside two remixes, establishing his early interest in blending rhythm-driven electronics with atmospheric textures.
At the time, he was deeply fascinated by space and science. That fascination soon evolved into a concept album titled The Universe, released in 2011. Each track drew inspiration from celestial objects, transforming astronomical wonder into immersive soundscapes.
A year later, during a particularly emotional period in his life, Alimba created another album titled Emerald’s World. Released in 2012, the downtempo ambient project reflected a more introspective side of his artistry, channeling personal experiences into expansive sonic environments.
Despite the creative momentum, the years between 2010 and 2013 were challenging. Unemployed and facing financial pressure, music alone could not sustain him. During this time, he also participated in numerous remix competitions, continuously refining his craft while searching for stability.
Eventually, with encouragement from his father, Alimba moved to the UK in late 2013 to pursue work as a web developer, the field he had studied. The transition marked a significant turning point in both his personal life and artistic direction. Once settled in the UK, he signed with Red Alfa Records, releasing the singles Kalispera in 2014 and Evolution in 2015. These tracks served as precursors to a larger project titled Resonance, though the album itself faced delays due to the realities of building a life abroad.
In 2018, the arrival of the Arturia MiniBrute sparked a fresh wave of inspiration. The instrument became the centerpiece for the EP 4 Stages of a Journey, released exclusively on Bandcamp. The project blended space ambient and drone elements while reflecting on Alimba’s own journey from Greece to the UK.
After that release, he stepped away from music once again. But the pull of creativity eventually brought him back. In late 2025, Alimba returned with Liminal Keys, an anthology-style album featuring ambient, acoustic, and piano-based compositions. Released on Bandcamp, the project served as both a reflection and a transition. It marked the closing chapter of his downtempo ambient era. Soon after, Resonance, finally released in early 2026, embraced vintage techno and trance influences, signaling a shift toward more rhythm-driven electronic music.
Armed with new hardware, including the Arturia MiniFreak, Arturia DrumBrute, and the compact synthesizers Korg Volca Keys and Korg Volca FM, Alimba has begun exploring live improvisation sessions on YouTube, bringing fans into his creative process in real time.
These tools have also powered his upcoming EP Temporal Distortion, a three-track vocal trance project scheduled for release in May 2026. The EP represents the final project he will create using FL Studio before transitioning to REAPER for future productions.
Already, he is working on a new full-length album that promises a refined direction: a cinematic take on trance infused with world music elements and atmospheric storytelling.
From recording radio broadcasts as a child to crafting immersive electronic landscapes across continents, Alimba’s story is one of persistence, reinvention, and creative curiosity. With a renewed vision and evolving sound, the Greek-born producer continues to push forward, proving that every chapter of his musical journey is simply a prelude to the next.
