Spanish composer and pianist Alexander Doria introduces his latest instrumental work, Bach Spirit, a piece that pays homage to classical tradition while embracing contemporary sonic textures.
Inspired by the contrapuntal style of legendary composer Johann Sebastian Bach, Bach Spirit is written in the form of a fugue, drawing from the rich compositional techniques that defined Bach’s music. The piece was created during Doria’s final year at the conservatory, reflecting both his academic training and his growing interest in blending classical structures with modern production elements.
The composition features a delicate interplay between piano and strings, enhanced by subtle electronic layers that add depth and atmosphere. While the work remains rooted in traditional counterpoint, the added textures give it a cinematic quality, creating a listening experience that feels both timeless and contemporary.
Through Bach Spirit, Doria demonstrates his fascination with connecting classical composition methods to modern sound design. The result is a piece that bridges centuries of musical tradition while exploring new emotional and sonic possibilities.
Alexander Doria holds a degree in Composition from the Conservatory and a Master’s degree in Composition and New Technologies from the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja. Much of his work explores the intersection of music and visual storytelling, often composing for film, animation, and video art projects.
With “Bach Spirit,” Doria offers a thoughtful tribute to classical mastery while continuing to shape a contemporary musical voice that merges heritage with innovation.
