Mick J. Clark Gets Into the Christmas Spirit with Rock Song “It’s Getting Near Christmas”

Christmas has a funny way of bringing out every emotion at once. There’s the excitement of the celebrations approaching, the pressure of getting everything ready, the romance of the season and, occasionally, the feeling that there simply aren’t enough hours in the day. Mick J. Clark brings these familiar experiences together on his rock Christmas song, “It’s Getting Near Christmas”.

Rather than focusing only on the usual festive cheer, Clark wants to capture the full experience of the countdown to Christmas. The anticipation of the big day is at the heart of the song, but so are the little complications that make the season feel real. From the excitement of making plans to the stress of getting everything in place, there’s plenty for listeners to recognise.

The rock approach gives the release its own place in the Christmas music conversation. Festive songs come in all shapes and styles, and Clark adds another option for listeners who enjoy their seasonal music with a rock identity. The idea is straightforward but relatable: Christmas is approaching, the excitement is building, and there’s no escaping the rush that comes with it.

Clark is no newcomer to making music with a purpose. A singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, he also plays guitar, drums and keyboards, and has built a catalogue spanning pop, rock, ballads, R&B, dance, Latin and country. His work has earned more than one million Spotify streams, while his career has also included six appearances in the iTunes Singles Chart and one in the Album Chart with Brand New Love Songs.

His musical journey has also taken him into socially conscious territory. On his album Causes, Clark tackled subjects including self-harm, suicide, female genital mutilation, bullying, losing control and global warming. Several of these releases received support from institutions and organisations, including the National FGM Centre and Croydon Education Department.

His commitment to using music to make a difference has extended into educational settings. “Me My Body And I”, an empowering song addressing self-harm and bullying, was introduced into schools in Croydon, alongside “You Don’t Look Cool”, an anti-smoking and anti-drugs song performed by teenagers from the BRIT School. These projects reflect another side of an artist whose catalogue goes beyond entertainment.

Clark has also enjoyed notable chart and streaming achievements. His rock song “We Know It’s True” reached No. 3 in the UK and No. 2 in the US iTunes Top 100 Rock Songs, while his album Causes made it through to the 64th Grammy nominations. His summer release “Anuther Sunny Hulliday” has passed 200,000 streams, and his Christmas EP Mick’s Christmas Mix has accumulated more than 300,000 streams across its three festive songs.

With “It’s Getting Near Christmas”, Clark returns to the seasonal spirit, this time with a rock offering built around the excitement, romance and occasional madness of the holiday countdown. It’s a reminder that Christmas isn’t just about the day itself. Sometimes, the build-up is every bit as memorable.
