Jesse Creatchman Releases Blues-Rock Single “fake it til u make it”

Canadian songwriter Jesse Creatchman has released a new single “fake it til u make it” a hook-driven blues-rock track that explores the growing influence of artificial intelligence, the pressure of self-promotion, and the struggle to maintain authenticity in an increasingly digital world. Serving as the first single from his previous EP, In the Noise.

The song combines sharp humour, thoughtful songwriting, and a classic rock-inspired sound to examine the culture of appearances and the pursuit of success in the modern age.

Inspired by a conversation about the use of artificial intelligence in music, “fake it til u make it” takes an unconventional approach to songwriting. Rather than simply addressing AI as a technological development, Creatchman uses the concept as the foundation for a song that questions how people define success, present themselves to the world, and respond to the growing pressure to stay relevant. The result is a witty and reflective track that blends blues-rock energy with commentary on contemporary culture.

The song’s central concept emerged after Creatchman discussed the increasing use of AI in music with another songwriter. During their conversation, the other songwriter insisted that artists needed to embrace the technology, prompting Creatchman to consider what might happen if he asked artificial intelligence to write the perfect song for him. That question eventually became the starting point for the track’s lyrics.

“I was talking with another songwriter about artists using AI to make music. He just looked at me and said, ‘You gotta use it,’ like there wasn’t really a choice. That got me wondering what kind of a song I’d ask AI to write for me. The lyrics to ‘fake it til u make it’ ended up being written almost like an AI prompt. It just grew from there,” Creatchman explained.

The unusual creative process gives the single an identity that reflects its subject matter. Structured almost like an instruction to an AI system, the lyrics explore the idea of manufacturing success through carefully constructed images, confident self-presentation, and the ability to keep up with society’s expectations.

With its tongue-in-cheek perspective, the song highlights the contradictions of a world in which appearing successful can sometimes seem just as important as achieving something meaningful.
Rather than delivering a straightforward criticism of artificial intelligence, Creatchman uses the concept to explore broader questions about authenticity and influence. As technology continues to change how music is created, distributed, and consumed, the track invites listeners to consider the relationship between creativity, personal identity, and the tools people use to shape their public image.

Musically, “fake it til u make it” draws from Creatchman’s interest in blues, outlaw country, and rock & roll. The track’s hook-driven approach gives the song an accessible, energetic quality, while its lyrical perspective adds depth to the listening experience. By pairing a familiar roots-inspired sound with a subject firmly rooted in modern culture, Creatchman creates a contrast that reflects the wider direction of his songwriting.

The single was produced by Tom Shemerr, known for his work with The Damn Truth, and mastered by Dave Traina. It was recorded at Grandma’s House in Montreal, bringing together a team of experienced music professionals to shape the track’s sound.

The production supports Creatchman’s blend of traditional influences and contemporary subject matter, allowing the song’s blues-rock character to complement its commentary on life in the digital age.

“fake it til u make it” also introduces the central ideas behind In the Noise, Creatchman’s Previous EP. The project examines the experience of living in an era defined by constant connectivity, rapidly circulating information, and an endless stream of competing opinions.

Through his songwriting, Creatchman explores what it means to search for truth and humanity amid the constant activity.

Instead of treating the Information Age solely as a technological phenomenon, In the Noise approaches it as a cultural and personal experience, examining how digital habits and public expectations influence the way people think, communicate, and understand the world around them.

The single establishes a playful but critical tone, using an unconventional songwriting experiment to raise questions about the role of technology in creativity and the expectations placed on individuals in a society increasingly shaped by online visibility.

For Creatchman, the challenge is not simply to reject the changes taking place around him but to find a way to make sense out of them through music.
