London jazz fusion and neo-soul band NEOTERYC have officially released their debut EP DREAMS, a soulful and collaborative project that introduces the four-piece’s distinctive blend of live instrumentation, intricate harmonies and groove-driven musicianship.
Built around connection, creativity and the chemistry between its members, DREAMS reflects the way NEOTERYC approaches music. Rather than treating each song as the work of individual musicians, the band developed the project collectively, sharing ideas in the studio, responding to each other’s energy and continuing to shape the arrangements until they felt right.
The result is a five-track project that moves through themes of love, personal growth, family, friendship, resilience and purpose. While rooted in jazz fusion and neo-soul, DREAMS also incorporates elements of R&B and contemporary live music, giving the EP a warm and fluid character.
The project was partly inspired by the band’s online community. After sharing early performance videos, NEOTERYC found listeners encouraging them to take their musicianship further by creating original music in the studio. That support helped push the group toward developing a body of work that could represent not only their abilities as musicians, but also their experiences and the stories they wanted to tell.
The EP opens with “April Mornings,” one of NEOTERYC’s earliest musical ideas. The track began with keyboard player Ejiro Lennox, who heard its melody in a dream before bringing the idea to the rest of the band.
That origin makes “April Mornings” a fitting introduction to DREAMS. The song connects the literal experience of dreaming with the creative process itself, showing how one idea can develop into something much bigger once it is shared with other musicians.
“Keep Your Head Up To The Sky”, featuring Peace Oluwatobi, carries that sense of optimism forward. Written from an original concept by NEOTERYC’s Ayodele Ojo, the song focuses on perseverance and maintaining hope when life becomes difficult. Its message is simple but important: keep moving, even when the road ahead becomes challenging.
The band then turns inward on “Grow”, featuring Zamar Eden. The track explores personal development and the experiences that shape us along the way. Rather than presenting growth as something effortless, NEOTERYC acknowledges the struggles, lessons and obstacles that can ultimately help people become stronger versions of themselves.
The EP takes a more energetic turn with “Still Rolling”, featuring Dylan Williams and Mark Asari. Driven by a livelier pulse, the track explores ambition, personal goals, and the determination to keep pursuing happiness and success. Its message leaves room for individual definitions of what success actually means, making the song feel both personal and universal.
Closing out the project is “Far Away”, featuring Maleík Loveridge. The more relaxed and introspective track brings the EP toward a place of emotional reflection, exploring peace, acceptance, and finding contentment while dealing with heartbreak, change, and difficult experiences.
Across DREAMS, NEOTERYC demonstrate why collaboration sits at the centre of their identity. Each track allows the band to work with different vocalists while maintaining the musical chemistry and soulful foundation that define their sound.
The band consists of Nehemiah Ibe on drums, songwriting and production, Ejiro Lennox on principal keys and string arrangements, Ayodele Ojo on secondary keys, and Immanuel Simelane on bass guitar. Together, they draw from the musical worlds of jazz fusion, neo-soul and R&B while allowing improvisation and live instrumentation to shape their arrangements.
Their influences include artists such as Robert Glasper, Snarky Puppy and Erykah Badu, and that combination of jazz musicianship, soulful grooves and contemporary production can be felt throughout their work.
NEOTERYC have already established themselves on London’s live circuit, including a sold-out headline show at Camden Assembly. Their musicianship has also taken them into collaborative work with artists including Afrobeats star Wizkid and gospel artist Sinach.
The band previously released their debut instrumental fusion single “Sweetspot” in 2022, which helped establish their identity as musicians interested in combining technical ability with feel and creative expression. Their live studio covers, including their fan-favourite rendition of Samoht’s “Yonder,” have also helped them build an audience around their musicianship.
Now, with DREAMS officially out, NEOTERYC are moving from being known primarily for their live performances and collaborations into a new chapter as recording artists in their own right.
More than a debut EP, DREAMS is a reflection of the band’s creative philosophy: music should feel alive, ideas should be shared and musicians should be willing to follow where the chemistry takes them.
