Three years since her critically acclaimed debut Outgrowing Nymph, German indie-pop artist Lisa Akuah is out with her second album, Golden Seams via Dachshund Music. The album explores imperfection, emotional depth, and the beauty found in life’s flaws, threading these ideas through nine immersive tracks.
The pre-album singles offer a glimpse into Akuah’s evolving artistry. The dual-language track Addictive Personality sees her incorporating her mother tongue, German, to convey themes of solitude and introspection. Growing Pains delivers upbeat indie-pop reflections on ongoing personal growth, while Urchin Man channels a darker, urban-folk tone, blending Irish folk influences with droning synths and hard-hitting drums. The album’s title track, Golden Seams, beautifully encapsulates the central theme: imperfections adorned with gold can transform into art, complete and radiant despite their flaws.
Akuah collaborated once again with producer Cameron James Laing at The Famous Gold Watch Studios in Berlin, creating dreamlike, immersive soundscapes that pair emotional resonance with rich storytelling. Accompanying her on the recordings are Sebastian Hoch (electric guitar), Georg Kostron, and Gidon Carmel, who together contribute to the album’s layered, cinematic textures.
Support from Initiative Musik helped bring the project to fruition, ensuring a polished and compelling sonic experience. Listeners can explore the album across all major streaming platforms starting May 23, 2025.
To celebrate the release, Akuah will perform a special album launch show on May 31 at the iconic Badehaus Berlin, offering fans a first-hand experience of the album’s heartfelt, immersive journey.
Golden Seams confirms Lisa Akuah’s continued growth as an artist, blending introspective lyrics, cinematic arrangements, and emotive storytelling into an album that celebrates life’s beauty in imperfection.
