Øyunn Shares Visuals for Debut Album Title Track, “I Know U Can Do It”

Fresh off a whirlwind summer of festival stages — including a standout set at Roskilde — drummer, rapper, vocalist, and fearless genre-shifter Øyunn has dropped the vibrant new video for her debut album’s title track, “I Know U Can Do It.” The single arrives alongside her electrifying first studio album of the same name, released via Copenhagen’s forward-thinking label Midnight Confessions.

Just like the record, the “I Know U Can Do It” video is pure Øyunn energy — bold, free, and emotionally alive. It captures the essence of her artistry: an artist who blends breakbeats, rap, raw honesty, and soaring vocals into something that feels both deeply personal and instantly infectious. The visuals pulse with movement and warmth, perfectly mirroring the album’s message of self-belief, self-reflection, and unstoppable groove.

With her dynamic range and groove-driven sound, Øyunn delivers a body of work that’s extroverted yet intimate, confident yet vulnerable. Each song feels like its own universe — catchy but never predictable — tied together by Øyunn’s fearless songwriting and sharp instinct for rhythm.

Co-produced with Brian Batz and recorded over four years between Copenhagen, Malmö, and Aarhus, I Know U Can Do It reflects Øyunn’s meticulous creative process. Leading on drums and vocals, she’s backed by longtime collaborators Jens Mikkel Madsen (bass) and Kasper Staub (synths), forming a tight trio whose chemistry glows through every track.

Behind the moniker stands Siv Øyunn Kjenstad, a Norwegian-born, Copenhagen-based artist whose talents stretch across genres and mediums. Her 2023 live album Aspects — originally a film and performance piece for Ultima Festival — earned her the ‘New Jazz Name of the Year’ title at the Danish Music Awards 2024. She’s also the rhythmic force behind Efterklang, and has performed with Bugge Wesseltoft, Nils Frahm, and Guldimund.

Five of the album’s eight songs were unveiled as singles ahead of release, racking up praise from Earmilk, 1883 Magazine, and airplay on BBC 6 Music and Radio X. Lyrically, the album digs deep into old wounds, self-care, relationships, and quiet optimism, balancing self-criticism with compassion. From the fiery spoken-word breakbeat of “New Life” to the dreamy stillness of “Hope That You’ll Sing Again,” Øyunn proves she can command chaos and calm with equal force.

With the release of the “I Know U Can Do It” video, Øyunn cements her arrival as one of Scandinavia’s most compelling new voices — a genre-defier who turns vulnerability into power, rhythm into emotion, and groove into pure self-belief.
