Australian-based duo Amistat has unveiled their latest EP, ‘a moment in the sun,’ which sees the brothers delving into day-to-day challenges and addressing some of the hardest moments in their lives. The EP radiates with authenticity, both instrumentally and thematically, as the twins open up about their deepest struggles, offering a raw and empowering vulnerability. The release has been met with joyful acclaim and positive reviews across social media and radio, resonating with listeners on a profound level.
The EP showcases the duo’s ability to craft deftly crafted alternative folk, anchored by the gentle brotherly back-and-forth of twins Josef and Jan Prasil. Their music explores the human experience over breezy soundscapes laced with threads of soft acoustic guitar, organic piano, and intimate harmonies. The EP candidly addresses a wide range of emotions, from ups and downs to insecurities, anxieties, hopes, and dreams, providing an unfiltered perspective into the brothers’ personalities and their collective identity.

In a statement, Jan Prasil shared that the EP reflects the struggles with personal life, private life, and mental health that he and his brother have been through over the last two years. The duo aims to show that it’s normal to struggle and that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. They emphasize the importance of being connected to oneself, acknowledging and sharing emotions, and not pretending that everything is always great. The EP acknowledges the challenging times while reminding listeners that there are good times ahead.
The standout track “Still Believe” showcases the duo’s experimentation with their sound, infusing an upbeat groove with a chantable mantra and an uplifting promise. The song reflects the brothers’ experiences of seeking support from others during times of struggle, emphasizing the importance of admitting the need for help and being there for each other.
Amistat, born in Germany and with a background encompassing the Czech Republic and Australia, emerged in 2014. Their EP ‘a moment in the sun’ is a testament to their growth and evolution as artists, with the duo consciously expanding their sound to create something that is certain to turn heads.
